The story of our Kansas City area bed and breakfast begins in 1999. While looking for acreage to call home for an “event” facility, Matt came across this beautiful property located south of Overland Park.  Originally opened in 1984 as a private home/artist retreat, the land held two buildings and was ideal for various events as well as a bed and breakfast facility.

So, in the year 2000 with a 9-month old baby in tow - we began our journey into the unknown world of the hospitality industry, catering to Kansas vacation travelers.  We must have done something right along the way because here we are over a decade later (another child and four animals richer), still doing what we enjoy doing:  helping those that cross our path relax and enjoy their time away from the daily grind.

To further enrich our guests' Kansas vacation travel, we both bring to this lifestyle an innate passion for food, people, and entertaining.  We enjoy traveling when our schedule allows, and it was our love of travel that inspired the decor of each of our 11 rooms.  Cedar Crest Lodge has given us the opportunity to meet many interesting people over the years.  Many of those are now frequent guests and good friends!
