As author of over 20 popular art instruction books including the From Me to You/Calico series, decorative painting teacher for over a quarter century, Master Decorative Artist and first recipient of the Silver Palette Award as conferred by the National Society of Tole and Decorative Painters, Inc., and longtime editor of the nation's premier decorative painting magazine the Decorative Painter, she is uniquely qualified in the field of tole and decorative art. All lessons emphasize only the soft, flowing style which has become synonymous with the name Mary Jo Leisure. Even so, course offerings vary significantly in an attempt to provide challenge and inspiration to the beginning painter as well as the professional decorative artist. Seminars are project-oriented in oils but are structured so that each day's lesson has a general application to all future painting and/or designing which the student will attempt. New projects for the courses are presented each year, and center on Mary Jo's readily discernible style emphasizing fruits and florals. |
